All of the fashion shows of Stella McCartney sparkle even more as stars appear as her guests. In her recent unveiling of the unique clothes in Paris, you can also see a lot of celebrities showing how they support the designs of Paul McCartney's daughter.

During the 2010/2011 two-season show of Stella, Paul McCartney was so proud of her daughter that he also took the time to strut at the catwalk and thank the fans of the 38-year old designer. With Paul is his partner, Nancy Shevell. Paul's presence at the shows of Stella is only one of the ways how they display their strong family ties.

But it was not only the Beatles musician who was present at the said event. There are also other familiar faces including the first lady of California – Maria Shiver and her daughter with Arnold Schwarzenegger – Christina. Both of these ladies said that it was their first time to attend a show in Paris.

Twiggy, the infamous front woman of Marks and Spencer was also present at the said event. This is not to support just the designer but more so, to support Carly (her daughter) as well since she is a part of the design team of Ms. McCartney.

Gemma Arterton had almost quit her role as a Bond girl in Quantum Of Solace when a movie executive disparaged her “common” accent.

The star was cast as agent Strawberry Fields in Daniel Craig's second 007 outing in 2008.

However, she almost walked out when one American film chief warned her that if she carried on talking in her native British accent she would only ever be cast as a maid.

“I said, ”Hello! I”m playing a Bond girl who works for the British consulate!” I was so annoyed I nearly walked out… I went through this whole thing of, ”I”m common compared to all these Oxford graduates. I don”t know anything,”” the Daily Star quoted her as telling GQ magazine.

The actress' accent almost cost her a role in upcoming blockbuster 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' – after director Mike Newell ordered her to lose her twang and speak “posh”.

And now, the 24-year-old beauty is working with a voice coach after moviemaker Stephen Frears advised her to seek professional help during a recent audition.

“I went into this meeting and he went, ”Oh dear, oh dear. Why do you speak like that?” And I went, ”It’’s where I”m from.” He said, ”Well, you are going to have to sort that out,”” added Arterton.

Obama Memorial Day 2010, Barack Obama is skipping the Memorial Day tradition of the President laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns. It is not unprecedented. George H. W. Bush was on the campaign trail in 1992 and scheduled to speak at an American Legions event in Maine on Memorial Day.

Ronald Reagan was in the midst of a contentious economic summit in 1983 and so sent George H. W. Bush on his behalf.

Barack Obama wants to go on vacation — the second vacation he has had since oil began spilling out of the gulf. That's okay though because the oil spilling is George W. Bush's fault, just like all the new dead soldiers are George Bush's fault too. Why should he care?

The troops don't like him no matter how much the White House propaganda machine tries to gin up staged pictures of Obama voting soldiers fawning all over him. But see the tepid response from cadets at West Point or talk privately with lots of soldiers and sailors and you get something else — they fundamentally do not respect their Commander in Chief.

There was no question they respected and loved Ronald Reagan. Same with George H. W. Bush, the last veteran of World War II to serve as President.

Obama? Not so much. And what does the left do when you point this out? They equate dead soldiers to political props/ Seriously.

By suggesting this President, in the midst of a war, should probably be going to Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day instead of taking his second vacation in a month, conservatives are somehow suggesting he use dead soldiers as political props.

After eight years of the left demanding publicity of flag draped coffins returning to Deleware from overseas to use as political props against George W. Bush, it is more than a little humorous to have the left now accuse the right of doing the same. It also ignores a fundamental point leftists too busy calling our soldiers "war criminals" and our dead soldiers "political props" miss — going to Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns has nothing to do with using dead soldiers as political props and everything to do with a Commander in Chief who seems to not like the military showing some basic respect to the men and women, alive and dead, who have actually kept us free.

Obama may talk about the government in the first person, but the men and women lying at Arlington know differently.

Miss America 2010 Winner: Miss Michigan Rima Fakih reacts as she is crowned Miss USA 2010 Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Las Vegas. A 24-year-old Arab American from Michigan beat out 50 other women to take the 2010 Miss USA title Sunday night, despite nearly stumbling in her evening gown.

Rima Fakih of Dearborn, Mich., won the pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip after strutting confidently in an orange and gold bikini, wearing a strapless white gown that resembled a wedding dress and saying health insurance should cover birth control pills.

When asked how she felt about winning the crown, she said, “Ask me after I’ve had a pizza.”

Fakih, a Lebanese immigrant, told pageant organizers her family celebrates both Muslim and Christian faiths. She moved to the United States as a baby and was raised in New York, where she attended a Catholic school. Her family moved to Michigan in 2003.

Pageant officials said historical pageant records were not detailed enough to show whether Fakih was the first Arab American, Muslim or immigrant to win the Miss USA title. The pageant started in 1952 as a local bathing suit competition in Long Beach, Calif. Fakih told reporters she sold her car after graduating college in Michigan to help pay for her run in the Miss Michigan USA pageant.

She said she believed she had the title on Sunday after glancing at pageant owner Donald Trump as she awaited the results with the first runner-up, Miss Oklahoma USA Morgan Elizabeth Woolard.

“That’s the same look that he gives them when he says, ‘You’re hired,’” on Trump’s reality show “The Apprentice,” she said.

“She’s a great girl,” said Trump, who owns the pageant with NBC in a joint venture.

In a moment that was replayed during the broadcast, Fakih nearly fell while finishing her walk in her gown because of the length of its train. But she made it without a spill and went on to win.

“I did it here, I better not do it at Miss Universe,” she said. “Modeling does help, after all.”

Fakih replaces Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton and won a spot representing the United States this summer in the 2010 Miss Universe pageant. She also gets a one-year lease in a New York apartment with living expenses, an undisclosed salary, and various health, professional and beauty services.

During the interview portion, Fakih was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance, and she said she believed it should because it’s costly.

“I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance,” Fakih said.

Woolard handled the night’s toughest question, about Arizona’s new immigration law. Woolard said she supports the law, which requires police enforcing another law to verify a person’s immigration status if there’s “reasonable suspicion” that the person is in the country illegally.

She said she’s against illegal immigration but is also against racial profiling.

“I’m a huge believer in states’ rights. I think that’s what’s so wonderful about America,” Woolard said. “So I think it’s perfectly fine for Arizona to create that law.”

“The Office” actor Oscar Nunez was booed as he asked the question and asked the audience to wait until he finished the question before they reacted. The panel of judges came up with the questions themselves.

Miss Virginia USA Samantha Evelyn Casey was the second runner-up, Miss Colorado USA Jessica Hartman was third runner-up, and Miss Maine USA Katherine Ashley Whittier was the fourth runner-up.

Most of the field of contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia were eliminated just after the pageant began and the entire group danced onstage to “TiK ToK” by Ke$ha.

A panel of eight judges, including NBA star Carmelo Anthony, Treasure Island casino-hotel owner Phil Ruffin and Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, were judging the girls throughout the night.

After 15 contestants strutted in swimsuits, five were eliminated. Another five were eliminated after the evening gown competition.

Miss Nebraska USA Belinda Renee Wright won the Miss Congeniality award, roughly one week after her father was killed in a farm accident. Miss Alabama USA Audrey Moore won Miss Photogenic after an online fan vote.

The pageant aired live to East Coast viewers on NBC.

The competition, which is not affiliated with the Miss America pageant, was hosted by celebrity chef Curtis Stone and NBC correspondent Natalie Morales.

New pictures of John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono, clicked during their famous Bed-in for Peace in Montreal in 1969, have surfaced.

The pictures, snapped by Life photographer Gerry Deiter, are being showcased in an exhibition in Coventry Cathedral, West Mids.

Deiter was the only photojournalist who was permitted to capture the couple for the full eight days of bed-in at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

The pictures show the couple writing and recording their song 'Give Peace a Chance'.

“Gerry Deiter was the only photojournalist there the entire eight days, with complete access," the Telegraph quoted Nick Chevasse, the Cathedral’’s tourist director, as saying.

He said: “He was on assignment for Life magazine, but his story was bumped in favour for one about Vietnam.

“The photos were never published, they never ran, so Deiter hid them away.

“This is why many of the images are not familiar, even to Lennon fans – they have never been seen before by anybody.

“He captured the celebrity visitors, the action and intimate, behind the scenes moments between John and Yoko.”

In one photograph, John strums his guitar, while Ono chats to 16-year-old Gail Reynard, who had scaled the hotel’’s fire escape and pleaded with the couple to let her stay.

Gail was given the original handwritten lyrics for Lennon’’s peace song, as she was present at the spot throughout the eight days.

She said: “When I first saw the images from the exhibition, I was carried straight back to that amazing time.

“They started to unlock details that I thought I had forgotten.”

LAHORE, Pakistan – A Pakistani court lifted a ban on Facebook on Monday after officials from the social networking site apologized for a page deemed offensive to Muslims and removed its contents, said a top information technology official.

The Lahore High Court imposed the ban almost two weeks ago amid anger over a page that encouraged users to post images of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Many Muslims regard depictions of the prophet, even favourable ones, as blasphemous.

“In response to our protest, Facebook has tendered their apology and informed us that all the sacrilegious material has been removed from the URL,” said Najibullah Malik, secretary of Pakistan’s information technology ministry, referring to the technical term for a Web page.

Facebook assured the Pakistani government that “nothing of this sort will happen in the future,” said Malik.

Officials from the website could not immediately be reached for comment. They said earlier the contents of the “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!” page did not violate Facebook’s terms.

The page encouraged users to post images of the prophet to protest threats made by a radical Muslim group against the creators of the American TV series “South Park” for depicting Muhammad in a bear suit during an episode earlier this year.

The controversy sparked a handful of protests across Pakistan, many by student members of radical Islamic groups. Some of the protesters carried signs advocating holy war against Facebook for allowing the page.

Bangladesh also decided to block Facebook on Sunday but said it would restore access to the site if the offensive material was removed.

It is not the first time that images of the prophet have sparked anger. Pakistan and other Muslim countries saw large and sometimes violent protests in 2006 when a Danish newspaper published cartoons of Muhammad, and again in 2008 when they were reprinted. Later the same year, a suspected al-Qaida suicide bomber attacked the Danish Embassy in Islamabad, killing six people.

As of midmorning Monday, access to Facebook inside Pakistan was still restricted. But users outside the country confirmed the page that sparked the recent uproar was no longer accessible.

Pakistani government officials are waiting for a written court order lifting the ban before they advise Internet service providers to restore access to the site, said Malik.

Anger over the incident also prompted the government to block access to YouTube, saying there was growing sacrilegious content on the video sharing website. The government restored access to YouTube last week but said it would continue to block videos offensive to Muslims that are posted on the site.

1. Aapka Kya Hoga (Dhanno)

This is a retake of the old super hit song ‘Apni To Jaise Taise’ from Laawaris (1981) sung by Mika and Sunidhi Chauhan. Solely enjoyable as the original.

2. Loser

An odd song overall, singer’s voice and music are strange and doesn’t fit in this album.

3. I Don’t Know What To Do

Desi style singing of the English lyrics is very funny. Beyond that it’s just an average song.

4. Oh Girl You’re Mine

Peppy, refreshing and youthful .., all words are less to describe the entertainment level of this song. Superb effort by everyone.

5. Papa Jag Jayega

Will leave you smiling and wanting for a re-listen. Neeraj Shridhar’s songs always have this unique quality of the songs being very hummable.

Disappointing thing about the album, though, is that the remixes are hardly worth anything and Oh Girl and Papa Jag Jayega both have very normal (read boring) remixes. The only one I liked to some extent was the remix of I don't know what to do, known as Shabbir's sexy '70s remix.

Like Sajid's previous film Heyy Babyy, the 'Housefull' album has its musical moments, but the album's middling score loses tempo later with not-so-memorable songs. And the absence of any melodious track is also a drawback. Only the 'Oh Girl' number leaves an impression in your mind.

In a nutshell, 'Housefull' songs are not full of beans!

Nicollette Sheridan sues Desperate Housewives’ creator over alleged assault

'Desperate Housewives' star Nicollette Sheridan has filed a 21-million-dollar lawsuit against the popular show's creator over allegations of assault and battery, violence and wrongful termination.

Sheridan played Edie Britt on the US ABC comedy-drama series.

According to TMZ, Sheridan claimed show creator Marc Cherry hit her across the face and head, and then fired her after she complained about the assault, legal documents revealed.

The 46-year-old British-born star claimed Cherry created a hostile work environment by “behaving in an extremely abusive and aggressive manner toward the individuals who work on the show”.

She claimed that Cherry physically assaulted her after she questioned him about a script during filming of the show's fifth season on September 24, 2008.

“Cherry took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head,” News.com.au quoted the lawsuit as saying.

After the alleged incident, Cherry went to her trailer to ask for forgiveness, revealed the legal documents.

Sheridan claimed she immediately reported the incident to ABC but the US television network failed to take action and Cherry's aggressiveness escalated.

The lawsuit also alleged that when Cherry found out 'Desperate Housewives' star Teri Hatcher went above his head to complain about him, he said: “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies”

This week we discuss various spoilers recently released for the final episodes of ABC’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’

Show creator Shonda Rhimes is usually really good at keeping spoilers limited, especially for season finales. However, a few good spoilers got leaked this for this week’s two-hour season finale. Some, even released in official ABC teasers! Did she purposefully released these spoilers out in the world to create a buzz or is there a leak on the set?

A good number of spoilers were released for the finale but I’ll tackle only two of them:

- Meredith takes a pregnancy test which comes out positive. Even if unplanned, Meredith is happy with the news. In the teaser, she tells Cristina before telling Derek.

- A crazed gunman will be on the loose in the hospital and the gunman and his victims will all be familiar faces.

Around the second season of the series, I started to develop a hate-hate relationship for George, Izzie and, mostly, Meredith. Luckily for me, George and Izzie are now gone of the series. However, I’m stuck with always-whining Meredith Grey. Even though I would prefer Meredith off the show as well, I welcome the news that she is pregnant. However, for me to fully embrace this Meredith, Derek must be on-board with the upcoming baby.

From the teaser, Meredith does seem happy with the news. So if Derek is fully committed, then, she’ll surely have a positive pregnancy. This setting means that Meredith will more than likely be less whiny than usual. I also welcomed the pregnancy news because this means Meredith will be seen less at the hospital during her last months of the pregnancy and in the few weeks after the birth. Less Meredith is always a welcomed news in my book, you?

Even if future parents are on board, it’s likely that the birth of their child will go smoothly. It is ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ we are talking about after all. If Meredith doesn’t give birth during a rather traumatic event or in an unusual place, it wouldn’t be surprising if she ends up having problems with the baby near birth or during labor and that Dr. Addison Montgomery is called back to Seattle Grace to help Meredith deliver a healthy baby. Another crossover in the making!

As for the crazed gunman storyline, what’s interesting is that fans will recognize the gunman and some victims will be familiar. I highly doubt that the gunman will be an hospital employee. My money is on an ex-patient or the family member of an ex-patient out for revenge for either having made their condition worse or for the death of the ex-patient.

Rumors have it that a few Mercy Westers are not set to return next season. Therefore, it would be likely that a few of them fall victim to the gunman. There hasn’t been recent chatter about a major character leaving the show after the finale, so I don’t expect any of the series regulars to die in this episode. With this info in hand, the victims may not really have a huge impact on fans. However, it would be possible that a few major characters get severely injured, which could make the event rather emotional for all.

Having seen a few teasers for the finale and about the gunman storyline, the most gripping tidbit I’ve seen is when Bailey is hiding under a bed and someone grabs her (it’s near the end of the teaser below). The look on Bailey’s face is of pure fear for her life. Will she be one of the injured?

Alan Shadrake's book "Once a Jolly Hangman" makes for uncomfortable reading. One case in particular might have made those in power uncomfortable enough to arrest Mr Shadrake on the rarely used draconian charge of criminal defamation.

A defamation action is usually instituted in civil proceedings by a person or an institution that believes its reputation has been harmed by a statement of the defendant. Even Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew used a civil defamation action in pursuing his detractors in the international press and local opposition.

Criminal defamation brings the resources of the State to bear in what is essentially a question of protecting personal reputations.

In 2009, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) intervened to discontinue proceedings in a criminal defamation action on the grounds that "the law of criminal defamation is not to be resorted to lightly". The AGC noted that in a civil action, the possibility that costs may be awarded against an unsuccessful plaintiff acts as a natural barrier to frivolous action. There is no such safeguard in criminal defamation.

The United Kingdom abolished criminal defamation in July 2009.

So what agitated the authorities enough to arrest Alan Shadrake for criminal defamation, amongst other charges?

The Vignes Mourthi case?

One possible contender is his characterization of the trial and execution of Vignes Mourthi as "arguably one of the most appalling miscarriages of justice in Singapore's history".

Vignes Mourthi was arrested on 20 September 2001 and convicted of trafficking 27.65 grams of heroin.

Mourthi's conviction rested largely on the strength of evidence of the officer who arrested him, Sgt S Rajkumar, a senior officer of the Central Narcotics Bureau. Sgt Rajkumar was a key witness in the prosecution's case, and Mourthi's defense was that an incriminating piece of evidence collected by Rajkumar had been added at a much later date.

Shadrake reveals that just three days after Mourthi's arrest, on 23 September 2001, Sgt. Rajkumar was himself arrested for allegedly handcuffing, raping and sodomizing a young woman and for subsequently bribing her to keep silent.

In the judgment convicting Rajkumar of bribery, Judge Sia Ai Kor described his actions as "so obviously corrupt by the ordinary and objective standard that he must know his conduct is corrupt".

Shadrake points out how the ongoing case against Rajkumar was never revealed to Mourthi's defense lawyer, and surmises that the prosecutor and other parties must have known about Rajkumar's case but chose to keep silent.

In his book, Shadrake characterizes Mourthi's case as groundbreaking enough to resemble the "catastrophic failures of the justice system in Britain" that contributed to the death penalty being abolished there.

If Shadrake is right, then the authorities could very well be stepping up to the criminal defamation plate to contest his version of events.

Hi Barney – it's really good to finally be able to host one of your interviews on Get Ready to Rock. In less that an hour we are going to see Napalm Death performing at the Koko/Camden for the promotion of your latest release "The Code is Red…Long Live the Code". Is tonight the last day of the tour?

Barney: No, we have one more show which we are going to do in Birmingham.

So, is that always the case? Do you always make sure that the last day of your UK tour is in your hometown?

Barney: Well, we did it on the last tour and it worked out really well, so we also decided to do the same on this one.What is your impression of the tour?

Barney: It's been great! What we did is…because the album was out in April which was, and still is a festival season, we thought that rather than just doing the festivals, we also wanted to do a proper tour and make the most out of the album release time. We decided to do a full tour, but that of course carries a risk at this time of a year, because most people are going to the festivals. What we did was to put gigs right between the festivals and it seems to have worked really well, because we managed to pull quite a lot of people to our shows.

How many people of the audience that attended your gigs were younger fans?

Barney: The real irony is that, as the band gets older, it attracts younger people. Especially this year, it's a mixture of young and old, and we also have a lot more girls than we used to in the past. That is great, because music is meant for everyone, not just one type of people.

Based on your experience and knowledge of the way the music industry works, what is it in your music that still manages to attract young people?Napalm Death has been around for ages – what is your secret?

Barney: I like to think that it's because we are a very honest band. We say what we think, we play the way we want to play, and we don't do it to please the industry. I think that it's like that – there is definitely a sense of adventure inNapalm Death for sure. I don't mean that in a melodramatic sense: I mean that in a sense that we are not playing by anybody's rules and regulations – we do what we want to do, and we have always done so.

It's good that you mentioned that, because I always believed that if these were not your principals, you may have made a huge but temporary success, but you would not have been here today with us, after so many years.

Barney: That's kind of hypothetical really. I have seen the way the industry works on a certain level that I don't particularly like and I don't really think that I could ever be a part of that. You have to get joy out of what you do, but I have seen a few things through the years that turn me off completely.Napalm Death has managed to remove themselves from that stuff, so it's hard for me to imagine how things would be like otherwise.

Killers Movie Review, Killers is brought to you by The Ugly Truth's director, Robert Luketic and star Katherine Heigl – minus Gerard Butler. This movie is reminiscent of The Bounty Hunter, another recent "romcom" actioner about the shenanigans of a couple living under false pretences on the brink of some sort of reunification. At its best, Luketic is aiming for the lofty realm of Hitchcock's To Catch A Thief as our lead duo meet in a similar fashion to Hitchcock's escapade featuring Cary Grant and? Grace Kelly.

Spencer (Kutcher) and Jen (Heigl), meet on vacation in France and marry quickly, only to be put in jeopardy when Spencer's undercover spy identity is revealed and a hefty bounty is put on his head. Their white picket fence suburban life becomes a sham and their marriage is put to the test as their "neighbours" start gunning for them. Unfortunately, Killers doesn't even come close to To Catch A Thief and apart from some idyllic shots of Nice, France: the director lacks the ingenuity, the familiar premise wears thin and the co-leads lack the same class and chemistry.

Killers is more comparable with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's sexy comedy thriller, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Even then it doesn't have the goods… coming off second best as a poor man's excuse for that light, playful and slick action "romcom". As hard as they try, the duo just aren't as sexy, funny or convincing as the once "hottest couple on the planet". The film was probably given the backing on the condition that they try and imitate the format and terrific chemistry between Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski in Chuck, a TV series about an undercover spy in the vein of 24 meets Get Smart. The undercover suburban married couple episode from Season 2 resonates and intersects in several instances.

Once again, it just doesn't measure up to its influences. For starters, Ashton Kutcher has been miscast and almost manages to derail the film. Instead of trying to drum up some chemistry and magic, he remains aloof, distant and unconvincing against Heigl's typical character performance. Killers called for a stronger lead and it's as if the role had been written for Gerard Butler – the missing component from The Ugly Truth. Butler has a more charming, rugged and espionage-ready persona, which when contrasted with Kutcher in Killers – makes it look like father and son. Kutcher is self-conscious and never looks comfortable, acting as though he's receiving his lines through an earpiece.

The short bursts of action help sustain interest in this lack-lustre thriller as Kutcher becomes a prime target, but it's too little too late. When one of the funniest scenes in the film is Kutcher trying to grow a moustache like co-star, Tom Selleck – you've really got to wonder why you"re still watching. Sexy-thrillers can get away with not being super funny, but they've got to deliver on sex appeal and thrills. Sadly, Killers lacks in all departments with a few awkward comedy moments and some mediocre action sequences. The whole production would have been forgivable if it wasn't for the real killer – Kutcher's literal anchor performance. Without any movie magic, it's just a case of going through the motions and sifting the script for a laugh or two.

There are even moments in the dialogue, where it's almost as if the writers are really asking Kutcher if everything's okay? It would have been less conspicuous if you could actually tell the difference between his character's normal temperament and when he seems distracted. Lines like you're acting like "a chained Rhesus monkey at the wheel" and "is everything okay between us?" echo with a hollow reverberation through the cinema. His distant character dulls everything down a notch, making the suspense less suspenseful, the funny less funny and the action less threatening. Perhaps Luketic gave Kutcher the wrong impression when he suggested that he embody a certain numbness in the killer's disposition?

It's a real pity that the co-leads didn't click. This film had serious potential, which is exactly why most people will see it. No one wants to watch a dull "romcom", even if there are one or two car chases and explosions thrown in for good measure. Killers flags when contrasted with Mr. & Mrs. Smith and we can only hope that Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz don't fall into the same trap as The Bounty Hunter and Killers with the upcoming Knight and Day. Without the trio of Luketic, Heigl and Butler from The Ugly Truth, a sulky performance from Kutcher just leaves static air between the screen and the audience – making the whole experience quite sterile and unnecessary.?

He was spookily invulnerable as Colonel Kilgore in Apocalypse Now, looking for great surf in the middle of a battlefield, bare-chested while everyone ducks for cover around him. It’s one of the greatest bit parts in the history of movies and maybe the greatest hawk ever committed to the screen. Coppola was smart to cut against the grain of his own politics: Kilgore contradicts and complicates the film. Duvall won an Oscar for Tender Mercies, but the movie is flim-flam; the only other film to match him was The Apostle, which he directed himself, and which has one of the best opening 20 mins of any movie in the nineties, seguing from administering last rites to someone in a car-wreck to going after Farrah Fawcett with a baseball bat. Most movies would have been happy to leave it there, with our certainty of the man’s hypocrisy — another Elmer Gantry. But Duvall digs deeper and finds another layer of charisma, beneath the brutality. It’s a wonderful, triple-decker sandwich of a part, almost geological. One could move quite smoothly from the greatness of his performance to a discussion of rock formation, root growth, tidal wash.

Foxworth has also had a hard time getting back into mainstream acting, possibly due to the fact that while society has become numb to publicly displayed sexuality, many conservative Hollywood producers still won’t hire adult film stars for legitimate acting roles. On top of that, it is hard enough for mainstream black actors to get work in Hollywood, let alone black actors with porno pasts competing for those same legitimate acting roles.

I hope Montana Fishburne put some thought into all of these things before she embarked on such a path. Maybe her dad or somebody will do an intervention before it’s too late.

Lindsay Lohan has dragged financial company E-Trade to court in a 100 million dollar suit claiming that a boyfriend-stealing, “milkaholic” baby – also named Lindsay – in its latest advert is modelled after her.

The Mean Girls star has filed the lawsuit in Nassau County Supreme Court over the commercial that went on air during the Super Bowl this year.

The advert, a part of a series featuring toddlers who play the stock market, shows a boy apologizing to his girlfriend on video chat for not having called her the night before.

“And that milkaholic Lindsay wasn”t over?” the baby girl asks the boy.

“Lindsay?” the boy replies just when a baby girl sticks her head into the frame and says, “Milk-a-what?”

Lohan’’s lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, said the actress's name was as recognisable as Oprah or Madonna.

“Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit,” New York Post quoted Ovadia, as saying.

She added: “They used the name Lindsay.

“They”re using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn”t they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. Everybody’’s talking about it and saying it’’s Lindsay Lohan.”

Ovadia is not only trying to get the advert banned but also wants every last copy of the commercial.

According to Ovadia, E-Trade has breached Lohan’’s rights under New York state civil-rights law and used her “name and characterization” in business without her permission or paying for it.

She said the firm made huge profits since the commercial was seen by tens of thousands of people watching the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics finals.

Ovadia said the company owed Lohan 50 million dollars in exemplary damages, with an additional 50 million dollars in compensatory damages.

As individuals, we go through it. But a married couple going through a mid-life crisis can be tragic, or if you believe director Shawn Levy, it could be hilarious.

Phil (Steve Carell) and Claire Foster (Tina Fey) are a sweet affable couple. They have steady jobs — Phil as a tax lawyer and Claire as a real estate agent. But years of marriage and raising two naughty children have taken a toll and they are more like ‘excellent roommates’ than a passionate couple.

They go on a date night every week, but it’s only slightly less boring than their daily existence. After they see their best friends break apart as a couple, their own frustrations come to surface. They know they have to do something. They begin with their date night.

Instead of going to their usual restaurant, they decide to go to Manhattan and dine at an expensive restaurant. But they have no reservation. So they steal a reservation that is in the name of Tripplehorns. Little do they know that they are in for big trouble. Turns out that the original Tripplehorns have a flash drive, which two goons are ready to kill the boring couple for.

Their explanation that they are actually the Fosters falls on deaf ears. So, they run for their lives and head to the police station. Sadly, it turns out that the goons are actually cops. Having almost no one to turn to, and nothing to save them from two murderous men and a whole Italian mafia behind them, they have no option left but to pull up their socks and fight them out on their own.

They encounter situations they couldn’t imagine, and do things they wouldn’t have done in a 100 re-births.

‘Date Night’ uses a cliched premise for an action-comedy. Yet, for a Hollywood flick to work the basic plot and also the final resolution, it need not be original — but the situations, the tension, the chemistry between the lead pair and the comedy definitely need to be.

Thankfully, director Levy and writer Josh Klausner make ingenious situations that have enough original gags and witty dialogues going to have you in splits.

In one of the funniest sequences, a sports car and a taxi are stuck head on, engaged in a tug-of-war and chased by the police across Manhattan. They try different means, but fail to get either the cars separated or the police off their tail. They succeed only when the husband and wife work as a team.

This tribute to marriage and married couples is hilarious.

Oh yes, the couple come out unscathed in the end, but wise. They learn their lessons. They discover in the course of the night that their spouses, who they had taken for granted as boring, have much more in them that they had lost touch with. It took some effort, and a lot of zany situations, for them to discover it.

Manhattan provides the perfect background for the breakup and getting together of the couple.

Mark Whalberg in a shirtless role Salman Khan fans would rave about and James Franco in a quick cameo show good timing and complement the lead pair well.

“Date Night” is a good watch for married couples to laugh at themselves and for the unmarried to know where they could be headed.

Michael Jackson’’s estate has signed a sweeping contract with Sony following which the record label will have the complete rights to sell the Pop icon’’s back catalogue and many of his previously unheard recordings.

The contract, for about 10 recordings through 2017, is expected to rake up nearly 250 million dollars in advances and other payments for Jackson’’s estate, while offering a special high royalty rate for sales both inside and outside the US, says sources.

The deal will also enable Sony and the estate to team up for several lucrative licensing arrangements, such as the use of Jackson’’s music for movies, TV and stage shows, and memorabilia.

“We think that recordings will always be an important part of the estate…New generations of kids are discovering Michael,” the New York Times quoted John Branca, an entertainment lawyer who is one of the estate’’s executors, as saying.

He added: “A lot of the people that went to see ”This Is It” were families.

” ”This Is It” was one of the few films allowed into China. So we think there are growing and untapped markets for Michael’’s music.”

The first recording under the new contract is the “This Is It” soundtrack, released in 2009, and Sony is now planning a new album of unreleased recordings for November.

Rob Stringer, chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group, a Sony division, said: “It’’s not just a record deal.

Attack on Afghan Town Marjah Launched

KABUL: U.S. Marines and Afghan troops faced rocket and heavy machine-gun fire from insurgents entrenched inside a Taliban-held town Saturday, as a long-expected offensive began to re-establish government control.

The assault on Marjah is the biggest offensive since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan and will serve as a major test of a new NATO strategy focused on protecting civilians. The attack is also the first major combat operation since President Barack Obama ordered 30,000 U.S. reinforcements here in December to try to turn the tide of the war.

Detecting multiple layers of insurgent defenses encircling the city, Cobra helicopters fired Hellfire missiles at tunnels, bunkers, and other defensive positions. Militants also flooded the main canal at the town’s entrance, making it more difficult for U.S.-led forces to enter on foot.

Marine commanders had said they expected between 400 to 1,000 insurgents — including more than 100 foreign fighters — to be holed up in Marjah, a town of 80,000 people in Helmand province. Marjah, located 360 miles (610 kilometers) southwest of Kabul, is the biggest southern town under Taliban control and the linchpin of the militants’ logistical and opium-smuggling network.

Sporadic rocket fire from insurgents and the rattle of gunfire echoed in the air. A U.S. missile detonated a massive 55-gallon (208-liter) fuel-drum bomb that sent a mushroom of black smoke dozens of yards (meters) into the sky.

Helicopters carrying hundreds of U.S. Marines and Afghan troops swooped into town under the cover of darkness early Saturday with a ground assault of thousands of additional forces expected to follow.

“The first wave of choppers has landed inside Marjah. The operation has begun,” said Capt. Joshua Winfrey, commander of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, which was at the forefront of the attack.

The operation, codenamed “Moshtarak,” or Together, was described as the biggest joint operation of the Afghan war. Maj. Gen. Nick Carter, commander of NATO forces in southern Afghanistan, said 15,000 troops were involved, including some 7,500 troops fighting in Marjah.

To the north, British, American and Canadian forces struck in the Nad Ali district in a push to break Taliban power in Helmand, one of the major battlefields of the war.

In a village north of Marjah, residents said they heard gunfire before dawn but then it went quiet. Abdul Manan, a farmer in the village of Saipo, said he finally decided to risk going out of his house and saw American troops walking by. They told him to go back inside.

Once the town is secured, NATO hopes to rush in aid and restore public services in a bid to win support among the estimated 125,000 people who live in Marjah and surrounding villages. The Afghans’ ability to restore those services is crucial to the success of the operation and to prevent the Taliban from returning.

Tribal elders have pleaded for NATO to finish the operation quickly and spare civilians — an appeal that offers some hope the townspeople will cooperate with Afghan and international forces once the Taliban are gone.

An official said the number of Afghan security forces in the district have roughly doubled since Obama’s first infusion of some 10,000 Marines in southern Afghanistan last year.

The Marjah offensive involves close combat in extremely difficult terrain, that official said. A close grid of wide canals dug by the United States as an aid project decades ago make the territory a particularly rich agricultural prize but complicate the advance of U.S. forces.

On the eve of the attack, cars and trucks jammed the main road out of Marjah on Friday as hundreds of civilians defied militant orders and fled the area. For weeks, U.S. commanders had signaled their intention to attack Marjah in hopes that civilians would seek shelter.

Residents told that Taliban fighters were preventing them from leaving, warning the roads were planted with bombs to slow the NATO advance.

Still, many people fled anyway for the provincial capital of Lashkar Gah, 20 miles (30 kilometers) to the northeast. They told journalists they had to leave quickly and secretly, slipping out of town when Taliban commanders weren’t watching.
