Guru Dies

Guru Dies, At only 43 years old the famed international rapper known as "Guru" has passed away. His passing came after his battle with cancer. Guru first suffered from cardiac arrest in early March of this year and has since been in a coma.

Solar, the producer for Guru, said that Guru had been suffering from the cancer for over a year and had attempted many different types of treatments that were being supervised by medical specialists but had all failed. Guru had been trying to keep his condition private but had to be admitted to a hospital in beginning of 2010 due to his illness.

After pairing up with DJ Premier in a group called Gang Starr they made over 6 albums between the years of 1989 and 2003 Guru became known worldwide. Shortly after 2003 they duo split after becoming known for making "conscious rap".

After their split Guru went on to produce a number of "Jazzmataz" albums where he collaborated with many hip hop, jazz and soul artists. He then went on to do a world tour with producer Solar.

An official statement was released that simply said Guru had passed away early September 19th due to his battle with cancer.
