Vybz Kartel Latest News about Vybz Kartel Update: Popular dancehall Deejay Vybz Kartel was released last night by the St Catherine South police after fourteen days under arrest. Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, was one of 20 persons who Security Minister Dwight Nelson ordered released yesterday. He had turned himself in to the police four days after he was named as a person of interest.
Palmer spent one week in custody before the police sought and got permission to hold him for an additional 30 days. He has spent a total of two weeks behind bars. His release will allow him to perform at next week's Reggae Sumfest and other dates for which he was booked before he detention. Among those who are also slated to be released are Sandra Coke, sister of former Tivoli Gardens strongman, Christopher 'Dudus' Coke. Sandra Coke was warned to stay away from Tivoli Gardens and will be heavily monitored, police say. She was taken in to the police by embattled clergyman Reverend Al Miller, who has since been charged with harboring a fugitive and perverting the course of justice after he had been found in the company of Christopher Coke at the time of his arrest last month.
Coke's brother, Leighton 'Livety' Coke will not be released. He is among several persons named as area leaders during last month's disturbances. The others include Michaelous 'Zeekie' Phipps son of incarcerated Matthews Lane don, Donald 'Zeeks' Phipps; Klansman gang boss Tesha Miller; Justin O'Gilvie, a business partner of Christopher Coke and Cleveland 'Cassie' Downer.
