Lambert beat out her friends, Lady Antebellum, in the category. But the trio had won two awards Sunday, song and single record of the year for their crossover hit "Need You Now."
Joined by her two producers, Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke, on stage, Miranda graciously tried to offer the producers a chance to speak. But CBS began to play music and pan the cameras out as Mike began to talk, causing an obviously annoyed Miranda to yell, “Really?!” before the show cut to more footage of the Zac Brown Band on their USO tour.
The first two ACM Awards were handed out Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and Miranda Lambert won the award for best video of the year for “White Liar.”
As we are out on this tour, we’re really trying first and foremost to give the fans the best show we can. The show, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, kicked off with Carrie Underwood and Lambert, joined on stage later by Brad Paisley, Charlie Daniels and John Fogerty, who ripped through a rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Travelin’ Band.”
Top-selling trio Lady Antebellum was the dominant winner at the ACMs, grabbing five trophies. Other winners included Miranda Lambert, who won three awards, including album and top female vocalist.
It was the third ACM win for Adkins and the first for Shelton, who says the award finally makes him feel like he’s been accepted in Nashville.
Lambert said she "had a blast" making the video because all of her band and crew were there with her and she was able to work her best friend from third grade into the video, too. But it was Jamey Johnson who really took morale up a notch or two, she?said.
