LOS ANGELES: A pair of “Mad Men” actresses have lined up movie roles.
Abigail Spencer, who played Don Draper’s (Jon Hamm) mistress on the ’60s-set AMC series, is making her feature debut by playing a prostitute in the big-budget sci-fi adventure “Cowboys and Aliens.”
Alison Brie, who plays Pete Campbell’s (Vincent Kartheiser) doting wife, is the newest to volunteer for the horrors of “Scream 4.”
“Cowboys and Aliens,” starring Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford and Sam Rockwell, revolves around cowboys and Indians repelling an alien invasion. Spencer’s character is a former lover of Craig’s character.
Jon Favreau (“Iron Man 2″) is shooting the film in Santa Fe, N.M. Universal will release the DreamWorks production on July 29, 2011.
As for “Scream 4,” Brie joins a coterie of young talent including Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin. Surviving original franchise stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox also will return to the killing field, along with newcomers Marley Shelton and Adam Brody.
Brie is playing Rebecca, Campbell’s ambitious personal assistant who secretly envies her boss’ reluctant fame and fortune. Director Wes Craven recently started shooting in Michigan, aiming for an April 15 release date.
In addition to her recurring “Mad Men” role, Brie is a regular on NBC’s “Community.”
