Saina Nehwal to Rank into Top 5 of World Women Badminton


Mumbai: Till not so long ago, Saina was an anagram  of Sania. And not just alphabetically. Both were from Hyderabad, teenage  successes. The shuttler, in fact, was often confused with her more  glamorous, established counterpart.


India’s ace badminton player Saina Nehwal has  gained her career-best rankings after she gained the fifth spot  following her stupendous show in the All England Badminton Championships  earlier this month.


Recently ranked world number 6? by Badminton World Federation, Saina  Nehwal, is the first Indian woman to reach the singles quarterfinals at  the Olympics and the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton  Championships. Saina is only 18 years old.


Saina Nehwal also made her mark in the international badminton sphere.  She made her international debut in 2003 at the India Satellite  tournament. At this tournament, she reached the top-16 round. In 2003  again, Saina Nehwal won the Junior Czech Open tournament. In the year  2004,
