Celebrity chef Juan-Carlos Cruz, the former host of Food Network show "Calorie Commando" and "Take It Off", may be spending some time behind bars.? The 'Pastrydude'? was arrested on Thursday May 14, 2010 in Santa Monica, California for his part in a murder-for-hire plot.
Several of the homeless individuals contacted the Santa Monica Police Department's Homeless Liaison Program last week after they were allegedly solicited by Cruz. Cops conducted an investigation with their assistance and made the arrest Thursday afternoon.
The details of the plot and to who it was meant for was not released. Police were being alerted of the situation was homeless people recruited by Juan Carlos Cruz are spreading. Cruz was arrested and charged of solicitation to commit murder.
That’s what the Santa Monica police believe. Sgt. Jay Trisler tells the Huffington Post that Juan-Carlos Cruz was arrested Thursday and booked on suspicion of solicitation to commit murder. He’s now being held on $5 million bail.
Juan Carlos Cruz debuted in 2004 when he hosted the Calorie Commando show on the FoodNetwork and is a dietician also. Juan-Carlos lost 43 pounds after facing a challenge on Discovery health Body Challenge. He is a graduate from California Culinary Academy and has worked at the Stanford Hotel and at the Hotel Bel Air.
The target of Juan-Carlos Cruz's alleged plot is known to police, but remains anonymous.
