Recently Alexa Ray Joel has been quite in limelight for a while no not because she is a singer or due to her parents Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley but of her recent fight with the depression that regretfully led her to the hospital due to overtake of a dose, on last Dec 5.
The lady Joel is just 24 now and reveals to the PEOPLE's new issue that she considered herself to be in a black hole from where nothing was visible, she could not see out. She hit rock the bottom that day as her one part wanted to tell the people who were close to her but did not want to reveal the whole world.
She was depressed due to her breakup from Jimmy Riot, her former bassist whom she had begun seeing when she was 19. She has yet not been able to overcome her first love after her break up in 2008 and is highly addicted to him which made her go out of control.
However, Joel is trying hard to come out of it and is seeing a therapist regularly now. The reports of tabloids suggest that it was the argument with Brinkley over her weight that led her to overdose. Joel said that as concerned about physical looks, it's her mom only who has always been supportive and also wished that she could like her.
