Simon Monjack,39, was discovered at the property in the Hollywood Hills.
LA's fire department had responded to an emergency call for an "unspecified medical aid request" at the house on Sunday, according to force spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Police said the preliminary cause of death was "natural causes".
Brittany Murphy, 32, passed away in her husband's arms on December 20, 2009, after collapsing in the shower.
She died of pneumonia complicated by an iron deficiency, anaemia and multiple drug intoxication.
