Not yet a household name, but earning a reputation in their home state of Florida, as the up-and-coming newcomers to watch, The Shelby Dressel Band commands the spotlight with a musical presence that has no rules and knows no boundaries. Yet, woven into the tapestry of their musical lyrics; lead singer / songwriter Shelby Dressel effortlessly blends the traditions of country music, and its tales of woe and heartache, with a contemporary country feel and sound.

Inspired by both family legacies of music and country music legends of the past, these born performers are no strangers to the music scene and it shows; it's in their DNA. Since their inception only a few short months ago, the 5 member band was the brain-child of Wesley Cook, the bands manager who wanted to showcase the vocal talents of his niece Shelby. What blossomed was the magic of musicianship that these kindred musical souls shared and the Shelby Dressel Band was born.

The music, evidenced in both their own songs and the songs they cover, echoes the influences and essence of The Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow and Sara Evans, but just as distinct & different in sound and style as the backgrounds and life experiences of the band members themselves.

The songs of lead singer / songwriter Shelby Dressel are lyrically rooted in the best of country music traditions, with such songs as "Hear It from Me" with its tale about the angst's of love or "The End" and its story of infidelity and loneliness of lost love. Straddling the borders of country and pop crossover is "Not the Waiting Kind" and its pining realization of "fool for love" anticipation. Tying all the songs together is Dressel's "born to sing" vocals that emotes a raw quality of expressive emotion and what gets delivered is no small town voice, but that of a seasoned performer.

Rounding out the bands rhythm section are Chad Elders, drummer and Caitlyn Lowrie bassist who also adds tandem vocal harmonies with Dressel. Sharing the role of lead guitarist are Ryan Cook and Dave McDonald on both acoustic and electric guitar. McDonald pulls multiple duties with the addition of mandolin and harmonica depending on the song.

Whether they're playing a benefit concert like the "Habitat for Humanity Benefit Concert" the "Colgate Country Showdown" or doing a music festival show, you'll know you have just stepped into the presence of something special in the making. While their lyrics reflect the traditions of country music, there's something universal about their appeal, style and charisma that's adding to their wide and growing audience of fans.

Do yourself a favor and take a night out to hear the Shelby Dressel Band play.? A "seeing is believing" night of entertainment you must experience for yourself; a show with "stand to your feet” energy and fun.
